By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all three! As a Dockhand, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day functions that keep the park running smoothly. Job Summary: This role involves conducting boat rentals and dock duties while ensuring passenger safety and compliance with policies. Key responsibilities include providing information about Yellowstone, maintaining boat cleanliness, inspecting rentals, and fostering positive relationships with guests and coworkers. The Details: Position Type: Seasonal Season Dates: Early June 2026 to Mid September 2026 Pay: $16.25/hourly Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why Yellowstone National Park? Responsibilities Ensures safe and lawful boat operations, including rentals and scenic cruises Prioritizes passenger and crew safety while maintaining environmental consciousness Provides informative commentary and answers questions about Yellowstone National Park Maintains boats, equipment, and facilities, reporting issues to management Instructs guests on boat operation, safety, and local regulations Manages communication, paperwork, and fuel operations Assists with various marina tasks, including maintenance and customer service Fosters positive relationships with coworkers, management, and National Park Service Qualifications Must possess a valid driver’s license with no high-risk violations in the past 3 years Must provide a reliable form of transportation to get to and from work (3 miles from Lake Village housing to the Bridge Bay Marina) Must be able to tie a proper Bowline and Cleat Hitch (Halyard) knot Knowledge of rules and procedures for use of marine band radio Knowledge of safety, emergency, and life-saving procedures Training provided for current CPR and 1st Aid certification Knowledge of park geography and history with a focus on Lake area Public speaking skills Knowledge of National Park Service boating and fishing regulations Supervision skills - Passengers Knowledge of maintenance and operation of assigned equipment Knowledge of weather patterns Knowledge of rental boats and seamanship skills including safe operation and docking Physical Requirements include: Must be capable of lifting objects of up to 50 pounds Must be capable of bending, lifting, and standing throughout a 10+ hour shift Must have full function and usage of both hands Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, etc.) for extended periods of time and provide proper attire for such weather conditions Must be able to work at elevations in excess of 7700 feet We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
