JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Construction Inspector for our team based in Calgary, Alberta. This is an ideal opportunity for a field orientated person looking to venture into the world of more complex projects and structural design.

The team you would be joining is a high-performing group, having delivered preliminary or detailed design for over 100 major structures over the past 15 years, with the core team members (drafting and engineering) having worked together for all of those designs. With over 15 design build/P3 pursuits and being teamed with the successful proponent for 7 of those pursuits, along with the design and construction of 7 conventionally delivered interchanges, the group you would be joining offers an enormous breadth of experience for you to either draw from or add to. There are both local opportunities, as well as some temporary opportunities that are more remote, that provide a wide variety of opportunity for someone who relishes the chance to be part of constructing transportation infrastructure.

  • Under minimal direction, relies on extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines.
  • Provides on the job training to new employees.
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
  • Tracks quality assurance progress.
  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical Diploma with a minimum of 8 years of bridge construction experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Construction, Structural Engineering (or related field) with 6 years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle required, as the site is not accessible by public transit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PEng or CET designation
  • 10+ years of experience in the bridge construction industry
  • Prior inspection experience on Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC) bridge projects
  • Safety training and experience specific to bridge construction
  • Experience managing direct client communication and fostering strong working relationships
  • Familiarity with TEC specifications and procedures
  • Experience with partnered project delivery methods
