Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We’re looking for an enthusiastic Structural Engineer specialising in Bridge Design to join our Hamilton Structures team. You’ll contribute to new bridge designs and the assessment and strengthening of existing structures as part of a supportive, high‑performing group. In this role, you’ll apply sound engineering principles and judgement to plan and deliver projects of reasonable complexity while providing technical design input across structural and multidisciplinary work. You’ll gain exposure to work planning and financial management on local, national, and international projects. A key part of the role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues, communicating effectively, and presenting your ideas with confidence. You’ll actively seek feedback, continue developing your professional skills, and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team environment. Ko wai koe | About you You’re a bridge‑focused structural engineer who communicates clearly, works well in a team, and contributes positively to shared project outcomes. You bring a solid grounding in structural and bridge design, including concept and detailed design, calculations, modelling, documentation, and design reviews. You understand the bridge design process from early investigations through to construction and approach your work with curiosity and a desire to grow your technical capability. You’ll hold a qualification in civil or structural engineering and have at least four years’ experience in structural or bridge engineering consultancy. You’re passionate about design and problem‑solving, bring creative and practical thinking to your projects, and ideally have experience across building or civil structures and multidisciplinary environments. You’re motivated to learn from senior engineers, and you may already be working towards professional accreditation such as CPEng.
