    Begin your career working with some of the top civil engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for an entry level Bridge Engineer to join our team in Louisville.

B&N Bridge Engineer - Entry Level Responsibilities:

  • As part of a team guided by experienced Professional Engineers, grow your skills in bridge design, routine bridge inspection, and complex bridge inspection
  • Design concrete and steel members for a variety of bridge structures and related structural elements for both new construction and for rehabilitation
  • Prepare final design details and work with staff to produce final construction deliverables for a variety of bridge structures
  • Document and report bridge conditions for routine and complex bridge inspections in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS)
  • Write reports and analyze load ratings of bridges and culverts working with DOTs, counties. and/or municipalities to assess bridge infrastructure

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program; Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Engineer-in-Training, EIT, preferred
  • 0-4 years of professional experience with bridge design and/or inspection; co-op and/or intern experience is preferred for new graduates
  • Ability to work in the field as needed and to withstand high levels of physical exertion including walking, climbing, bending, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Kentucky and nationwide periodically
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history is required
  • Microsoft Office and Bentley software proficiency is preferred
  • Bridge inspection and design software experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
    Travel arrangements to and from work assignments including airfare, hotel, and meals are reimbursed. All safety training, equipment, tools, and tech are provided.
