Videocraft is a dynamic and innovative technology provider committed to delivering top-tier solutions for our media and creator clients.
Situated in Melbourne, our Broadcast Engineers play a vital role in the Videocraft Pro Technical Services team and are primarily responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the systems used by our production and post-production customers as well as providing technical expertise to outside broadcast and live events projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design: creating and designing technical solutions for our customers for both short term live events, studio, and post-production system builds.
  • Installation and Configuration: setting up and configuring broadcasting equipment. This could range from installing cameras and audio mixers to configuring software for content management and signal distribution.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: regularly inspect and perform upkeep on broadcasting equipment to ensure everything operates at peak efficiency. When technical issues arise, troubleshoot problems, identify faults, and resolve them promptly to minimize disruptions to the broadcasting process.
  • Emergency Preparedness: be prepared to handle unexpected technical failures swiftly to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted broadcast services.
  • Client Communication: Providing clear and concise communication to clients regarding the status of their issues and service requests.

Duties

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Set up and manage outside broadcast, studio and post-production equipment and other associated equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise in design, installation, and maintenance of our media production systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to broadcasting equipment and software systems both remotely and onsite.
  • Manage the daily operation and upkeep of broadcast systems including automation, video servers, and network equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities to ensure highest level of system uptime and reliability.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and expansion projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation to ensure system knowledge is maintained and managed within our organisation.
  • On-site technical support at major sporting events, television productions and similar occasions where on call technical support is required for the duration of the event.
  • Installation, configuring and commissioning of high-end equipment in permanent, temporary, or mobile locations as required.
  • Building and configuring both IT based and traditional video production equipment systems.
  • After sales and technical support (both on-site and remotely); occasionally out of usual office hours to solve customer emergencies.

There may be a requirement to travel occasionally to service customers interstate within Australia.

Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure in fast paced ‘on-air’ environments are essential
  • Networking skills (layer 2) and experience configuring switches with vlans
  • Experience with Riedel and/or RTS communications systems configuration and support
  • Familiarity with RF transmission systems such as DTC configuration and support
  • Knowledge of Yamaha audio mixers, and ideally Lawo, configuration and support
  • Experience with EVS and Avid ingest/storage/replay systems configuration and support
  • Sony, Ross and Blackmagic vision mixer and router configuration and support experience
  • Knowledge of VidCAD highly regarded
  • Ability to work unsupervised is essential
  • Possess professional communication skills and be able to adapt to a wide variety of environments and personalities
