Job Summary
The Clinical Director ASC is responsible for overseeing the coordination of nursing practice for the ASC. In the role, the Clinical Director ASC should have a vision of the big picture with an understanding that enhancing clinical effectiveness may not be a one-time endeavor, and that meaningful change requires continuous improvement. The Clinical Director ASC also must have foresight to understand that a change in one process may affect another. Expectations include creativity, influencing the teams executing the change, evaluating and designing nursing process and assisting with the execution of changes. The Clinical Director ASC must have experience with matrixed leadership in a large organization and be able to demonstrate leading through influence. The Clinical Director ASC will collaborate and work well with all stakeholders, including the Medical Director and ASC Administrator as part of the ASC leadership team that fosters remarkable outcomes including but not limited to safety & quality, team well-being, patient satisfaction, operational excellence, and growth.

Qualifications
Education: 2 Year Associate Degree required, 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree preferred (BSN)
Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in a healthcare setting, Prior ASC experience with leadership responsibility is preferred
Licensure/Certification: RN License is required

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Computer literacy, proficiency with Outlook, Word processing, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheets; able to independently use office equipment such as fax, copier and scanner; sufficiently proficient in medical equipment to guide the selection and bid process. Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Able to perform the necessary functions on the center’s computer systems. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians. Ability to make decisions and solve problems.
  • Strong background in patient centric care; Experience with facilitating education and training; Must have the ability to complete assignments required for State, Regulatory, Accreditation and other required organizations.
  • Experience in leadership roles; Strong ethical and moral character references; Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication. Accuracy and attention to detail without compromise of patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. Maintains professional competency in the applications of the principles of management. Responsible for the overall operations of the facility in the absence of the administrator.
  • Assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the clinical and operational functions of nursing services to ensure quality, cost effective health care is provided by an educated and competent staff. Participates in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making involving multidisciplinary teams. Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across the continuum of health care. Builds a high-functioning team that meets all operating goals, including cost of health care, clinical quality improvement, regulatory compliance, administrative costs and employee engagement.
  • Advance patient safety and quality that removes barriers and supports integrated and coordinated proactive patient safety activities. Create an environment that empowers teammates to report unsafe conditions and practices to mitigate risk. Commitment to data-driven clinical excellence, to drive and sustain a culture of harm prevention. Drive standardization and implement best practices to achieve high reliability.
  • Promotes a safe environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Advance patient safety and quality that removes barriers and supports integrated and coordinated proactive patient safety activities. Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities. Actively leads the First Do No Harm program for the center. Implements practices and regulations adopted to provide safety in the healthcare environment. Monitors the facility’s physical environment and initiates methods for maintaining safety, comfort, cleanliness, and orderliness; reports physical environment status to ASC Administrator as required. Responds to emergency situations competently. Ensures that OSHA requirements are met by clinical staff and that supplies are readily available.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility. Manage clinical labor operations and staffing according to best practice and operational stewardship. Orders or directs ordering of supplies including drugs, solutions, and equipment, and maintains records on narcotics. Applies material management principles to establish procedures for use. Promotes cost-effectiveness and implements procedures to control waste. Monitors the care and cleaning of equipment to maintain proper working conditions. Assists ASC Administrator to identify and evaluate need for items relative to trends and physician requests. Reviews inventory for availability of supplies and equipment necessary to meet patient needs. Oversees inventory, maintaining adequate supplies and equipment and providing for their economical use.
