JOB OVERVIEW

This is administrative fiscal work in division-wide budget activities for the school district. The Budget Analyst collects, reviews, and enters appropriate data into the budget system, assists in the design and presentation of the budget document, and ensures the accuracy of published information. All important aspects of the work are subject to detailed and specific procedures and require considerable judgement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Accounting, or related field

EXPERIENCE

Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in public sector or governmental budgeting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



    • Working knowledge of the theory, principles, practices, and techniques of the public sector or governmental budgeting, accounting, and financial management systems

    • Demonstrated experience utilizing analytical skills including statistics and mathematics
    • Outstanding technical skills
    • Knowledge of office procedures and practices

    • Processes, reviews and analyzes budget data in preparing the budget document
    • Reviews budget request submissions for completeness and accuracy
    • Develops data during budget preparation and format reports and published documents; obtain supplementary information as needed
    • Researches and answer questions regarding the budget and continuously refines/maintains the budget preparation automated system
    • Monitors position control to include the creation and maintenance of positions and their budgets to prevent over hiring and budget deficiencies
    • Reviews financial reports for unusual or erroneous budget balances and potential areas of concern
    • Reviews budget transfer requests for authority, accuracy, and reasonableness
