Description Atlanta, GA | Full-Time | In-Office Salary Range: $50,000–$55,000, based on experience Leapfrog Services is looking for a Build Room Technician to join our Desktop Management Practice. This role is responsible for preparing, imaging, configuring, packaging, and shipping client devices as part of the IT asset lifecycle. The Build Room Technician ensures every device placed into production meets Leapfrog’s standards for performance, security, and reliability. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that supports multiple teams and plays a critical role in delivering a seamless technology experience to our clients. You’ll work closely with procurement, field technicians, and the support desk to ensure assets are delivered on time and built right the first time. What You’ll Do Perform intake of new hardware; validate against purchase orders and record in the asset inventory system. Image and configure desktops, laptops, and other devices using approved tools (Intune, Autopilot, Kaseya, etc.). Apply baseline security configurations, patches, and encryption according to company and client policies. Assemble, stage, test, and prepare hardware (PCs, laptops, printers, routers, switches) for deployment. Verify functionality and quality before packaging and shipping to client sites. Maintain detailed documentation of build processes, configuration changes, and troubleshooting steps. Manage device returns and coordinate wipe/reimage for redeployment or retirement. Track and maintain proper stock levels of spare devices, parts, and consumables in the build room. Package and prepare equipment for shipment, ensuring all required components and documentation are included. Collaborate with internal teams to identify process improvements and automation opportunities. Requirements What You’ll Bring 1–2 years of IT support or hardware technician experience. Familiarity with Windows OS, imaging tools, and endpoint management platforms (Intune, Autopilot, Kaseya). Solid understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/macOS), and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls). Ability to follow SOPs and checklists with consistency and accuracy. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Physical ability to lift and move computer equipment and peripherals (up to ~40 lbs). Nice to Have Experience in a Managed Services or IT outsourcing environment. Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and shipping/receiving workflows. Microsoft certifications or willingness to obtain within the first year: MD-102: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals Success Looks Like Zero-defect deployments and accurate configurations.
