About the Role
As a Building Automation Systems Designer, you will be responsible for the complete design and programming lifecycle of building automation systems. You’ll create detailed control sequences, program field controllers, develop graphics, and support commissioning for complex projects. You’ll work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to deliver efficient, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design control system architecture based on project specifications, drawings, and site requirements
  • Program and configure Niagara 4-based systems, including station setup, logic blocks, schedules, alarms, and user interface graphics
  • Develop custom control sequences to optimize system performance, comfort, and energy efficiency
  • Integrate third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and other standard protocols
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure systems are commissioned to a high standard
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including point lists, network diagrams, and sequence of operations
  • Participate in system testing and tuning during the commissioning phase
  • Provide client support, training, and remote troubleshooting as needed
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design and programming standards
  • Occasionally assist with technical support during construction or commissioning

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Building Systems Technology, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field
  • Proven experience with Niagara 4 Framework and Honeywell WEBs controls is required
  • Expertise in creating system graphics, dashboards, and user interfaces within Niagara Workbench
  • Familiarity with industry communication protocols: BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and HVAC sequences of operations
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, energy management, and control theory
  • Advanced computer literacy and comfort with configuration tools, databases, and technical documentation
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Niagara 4 Certification, CEM, LEED AP, BAS Technician) are a strong asset
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects at once

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
