BUILDING CODE TECHNOLOGIST

At DGH Engineering (DGH), we are full-service integrated design consultants who design efficient, sustainable, and practical solutions for our clients across Canada. Our team values collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement – and we’re looking for a Building Code Technologist to join our team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduated from a three-year Architectural / Engineering Technology program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Eligible for registration with The Certified Technicians & Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) or The Architectural and Building Technologists Association of Manitoba (ABTAM).
  • Knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and relevant provincial codes
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance issues and propose practical solutions
  • Experience interpreting codes for multi-disciplinary projects is an asset
  • Hands-on experience or general construction experience is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a passenger vehicle

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to function in a team-based environment
  • Aptitude for and general understanding of building construction methods and procedures

Responsibilities
  • Review technical drawings to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and bylaws
  • Prepare code reviews, compliance reports, and supporting documentation for projects at various stages of design and construction
  • Advise project team on code requirements and best practices
  • Stay current with changes to national and provincial building codes and communicate updates to the team
  • Liaise with municipal officials and regulatory authorities as required to support approvals and permitting
