BKE/JBE Building Computer Lab Tech

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Show work experience with computers relating to systems management, networking, and multi media applications. Preference given to work experience in a school or other educational environment utilizing technology as a major requirement of the job.
  • Knowledge of basic operation, maintenance and minor repair of PC’s classroom software and application; internet; installation and de-installation practices; hardware and peripheral device functionality; network basics, and Internet practices.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the art technology as it pertains to educational applications.
  • Interact effectively with youth of varied ages, backgrounds, and technology experience.
  • Such additions and/or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Typical tasks include but shall not be limited to:)

  • Develop and implement, in coordination with the District Technology Integration Coordinator, grade appropriate lesson plans for each 3rd-5th grade class and create corresponding activities for each grade level.
  • Teach each class the necessary skills to achieve continuity and proficiency in the use of keyboard, computer functions, media literacy, internet safety, and responsible digital citizenry.
  • Collaborate with teachers regarding schedules, coordination of computer functions that are helpful in classroom projects and lessons, and verifying internet content for student use.
  • Provide classroom management, supervision, and direction for students, including instructional focus and expectations for the lesson.
  • Prepare for and proctor ISAT testing; including the creation of a testing schedule and maintaining scores until they are posted on the computer for viewing.
  • Receive and execute direction from the technology Department regarding software installations, updates and the implementation of technology standards, policy, and procedure.
  • Assist with technical support for the proper operation, application, and maintenance of district computer hardware and software.
  • Provide technical assistance to building staff in the utilization of technology.
  • Assist with planning staff training as it relates to the application of technology in the instructional and administrative process.
  • Conduct training seminars and workshops as appropriate to the proper application of hardware and software within the building.
  • Make minor repairs and alterations to on-site equipment, as appropriate.
  • Assist with a program and schedule for routine cleaning and maintenance of technology equipment.
  • Install new equipment and wiring as necessary to keep all technology systems functioning properly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.27 - $20.72 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
