JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Engineer to install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting and repairing building systems, including refrigeration, plumbing, lighting, hydraulics, and pneumatic controls. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electronic control systems, and distribution center equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Valid boiler operator’s license (Black Seal preferred) and EPA refrigerant recovery certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (occasionally over 100 lbs with assistance).
  • Exposure to varying work environments, including outdoor weather conditions, high noise levels, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and ear protection.

Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire protection, hydraulics, pneumatics, steam systems, boilers, pumps, compressors, and engines.
  • Maintain and repair distribution center equipment, including conveyors, power transmission equipment, and packaging machinery.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic, pneumatic, and computer-based building management systems and HVAC controls.
  • Program and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other electronic control systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Maintain records of equipment operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist with purchasing maintenance supplies, tools, and parts.
  • Work with management and contractors to coordinate repairs and maintenance work.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including equipment failures, hazardous spills, and system malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
