Description
GENERAL PURPOSE Coordinate daily activities of building maintenance staff. Demonstrate full proficiency in performing maintenance on facility structure, such as floors, lighting, walls, ceilings, outside roof, and grounds; perform small construction projects, such as room additions; and maintain ground equipment, such as pressure washers, mowers, forklifts, and plant vehicles. Work with a limited degree of supervision and perform and/or provide oversight on complex and/or new assignments. Provide guidance, train, and mentor team members.   JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Provide leadership and daily direction to building maintenance team members; supervise the timely completion of work orders, projects, and grounds maintenance; monitor for compliance and safety · Plan work activities, which may include design work, making sketches, ordering materials, coordinating with other departments, and scheduling work · Provide reports and/or updates to management of work order progress and completion · Coordinate work with outside vendors · Complete building maintenance work orders in a safe and timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards. This may include plumbing, painting, welding, masonry, carpentry (both rough and finish) · Perform routine inspections to ensure safety of building structure and proper functioning · Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures · Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and address problems · Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns · Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify opportunities to improve processes · Anticipate parts requirements for the tasks and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance · Create and submit purchase requisitions for building maintenance · Assist with other maintenance activity (e.g., plant maintenance) and with contractors as needed or when directed by supervisor · Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues · Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements · The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · High school diploma or equivalent · Trade school or training in construction and/or maintenance applicable to the role · 4 to 6 years of building and grounds maintenance, construction, or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience · Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Strong construction and mechanical skills · Able to demonstrate leadership qualities · Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork · Able to inspect facility, diagnose or recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action · Able to use a variety of maintenance tools and hand and power tools in a safe manner · Able to complete projects from planning to installation · Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing · Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals · Basic computer skills · Must be able to read, write and speak English   An Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled/Veterans
