Job Overview: As a Building Maintenance Technician at St. Joseph’s Villa, you will be responsible for ensuring that our facility remains in optimal condition. Your role will include performing routine maintenance, addressing repair needs, and responding to maintenance requests from staff and residents. Your attention to detail and commitment to a clean, safe environment will be vital in enhancing the quality of life for our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Proven experience in building maintenance or a related field, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to address and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, residents, and vendors.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various physical conditions, and handle the physical demands of the job.
  • Certification: Grade 12 education (minimum) and certificate in at least one of the following:
  • Plumber – 306A
  • Electrician (Construction & Maintenance) – 309A
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic – 313A
  • General Carpenter – 403A
  • Engineering Techniques – 3rd Class
  • Facilities Mechanic 255W or Facilities Technician 255B
  • Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Techniques
  • Building Environmental Systems Operator Class 1
Responsibilities
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, grounds maintenance, painting, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting: Perform repairs and troubleshoot issues related to heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, including equipment malfunctions, leaks, and other urgent issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to residents and staff.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary.
