Salary range: Grade 9 £42,060-£43,680p.a. plus fantastic benefits Contract: Permanent Hours of work: 36 hours per week Location: Croydon We’re looking for a Building Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of one or more temporary accommodation buildings, ensuring they are safe, compliant, well-run and supportive places for residents. This is a hands-on operational role focused on building management, resident safety, health & safety compliance, contractor coordination and occupancy management. About the Role As a Building Manager, you will be responsible to provide a housing management service to temporary accommodation properties for homeless applicants and will: Manage the day-to-day operation of temporary accommodation buildings, including admissions, discharges and occupancy Act as the main point of contact on site for residents, contractors and council teams Ensure buildings are safe, secure and compliant with fire safety, water safety and health & safety requirements Carry out regular inspections and maintain accurate compliance records Coordinate repairs and maintenance works with contractors and monitor quality and completion Supervise onsite staff (e.g. cleaners, caretakers/security where applicable) Manage anti-social behaviour and breaches of licence conditions in line with policy Prepare and serve notices to quit where required and support tenancy management processes Work closely with housing caseworkers and support services to facilitate move-on Maintain accurate records on occupancy, compliance checks and incidents Escalate safeguarding, health & safety or serious building issues in line with procedures Who We’re Looking For You will: Have experience managing buildings in a housing, temporary accommodation, hostel or similar environment Have working knowledge of health & safety requirements in residential buildings, including fire safety Be confident coordinating contractors and monitoring works Be organised and able to manage competing priorities in a busy operational setting Be confident working with residents who may have complex needs Have good communication skills and the ability to deal with challenging situations calmly and professionally Have basic IT skills to keep records and reports up to date Why Join Us If you have experience managing buildings and enjoy hands-on operational work in a housing environment, we’d love to hear from you.
