About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and committed Building Manager to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our diverse property portfolio, which includes apartment buildings and single-family homes. The successful candidate will embody our core values—professionalism, integrity, and a passion for continuous improvement—and will play a key role in enhancing the property management experience for all stakeholders.
This position works closely with our skilled team, including Property Managers, fellow Building Managers, and colleagues from Maintenance, Operations, Leasing, Administration, and Accounting. You’ll also make full use of our cutting-edge property management software to support efficient workflows, elevate tenant satisfaction, and improve owner communications.
Key Responsibilities
Tenant Relations
- Manage tenant applications, screenings, move-ins, and move-outs
- Address tenant inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Ensure compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act and other relevant legislation
Building Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems with contractors (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety)
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair work
- Manage and oversee external contractor contracts and project timelines for maintenance and repair works
- Implement preventative maintenance programs
Financial Management
- Assist with preparation and management of operating and capital budgets
- Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate financial records and provide regular reports
Risk Management & Safety
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including WorkSafeBC
- Address risks related to environmental factors and hazardous materials
Sustainability & Building Operations
- Promote energy-efficient practices and sustainability initiatives
- Stay informed about trends in building technology and sustainability
- Implement strategies to reduce the building’s environmental footprint
Qualifications
Required
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and property management
- Tech-oriented mindset and comfort with adopting new digital tools and systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with the Residential Tenancy Act and related legislation
- Ability to respond to emergencies and after-hours situations as needed
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred
- VCC Building Manager Certificate or equivalent experience/education
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and property management software

Employment Conditions
- Full-time position with on-call responsibilities for emergencies
- May require evenings or weekends as needed
- Physical ability to perform inspections and minor maintenance tasks
- You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team of property management professionals
- A reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are required for property visits (business mileage will be reimbursed)
- Candidates must provide their own laptop with dependable internet for all operational tasks and reporting
- Successful completion of a criminal record check is a condition of employment
