We are currently recruiting for a Building Operator with 4th class power engineering certificate to join our team in Fort McMurray.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of 4th Class Power Engineering certificate from an accredited Canadian Institution
  • Minimum of two years of previous, commercial and/or industrial based Building Operator experience.
  • Experience in operating building systems is required.
  • Training in WHMIS, first aid, emergency procedures and CPR would be an asset.
  • Valid and clean drivers license.
  • Completion of OSSA Basic Safety Orientation and H2S Alive
  • Registered as a 4th Class Power Engineer with ABSA (Alberta Boiler Safety Association).
Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily building walkthroughs of assigned portfolio and correct deficiencies. Liaise with Building Operations Administrators and occupants on a daily basis.
  • Under the direction of the Lead Building Operator and on-site Client Supervisor perform minor maintenance functions for HVAC and plumbing and assist with developing contingency plans for building HVAC systems and the writing of operational procedures.
  • Respond to requests for services from the occupants of the offices and shops in a courteous and timely manner and ensure follow up by designated personnel when permits are complete.
  • Provide information to close service request and record comments for future reference.
  • Maintain daily equipment and meter reading logs where required. This includes ABSA requirements for Heating Plant, as assigned
  • Respond to emergency requirements; must carry a cellular, or two-way radio. Available for emergency call out duty during afterhours and on weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Conduct detailed inspections to ensure that scheduled and periodic maintenance of building and equipment have been completed
  • Inspect new installations and renovations to ensure compliance with the scope of work and all applicable standards.
  • Use SAP for processing new work notifications and managing open notifications to support building and occupant needs.
  • Co-ordinate shut down/start up of building utility systems for projects through Safe Work Permit System procedures.
  • Permit Issuer other trades and area authority activity.
  • Communicate with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations
  • Keep up to date and informed on company products, services and policies.
  • Adhere to provincial OH & S, Convergint safety policies/procedures and operate equipment and systems in a safe, efficient manner and at all times.
  • Liaise with the Safety Coordinator ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are followed by colleagues.
  • Attend and support daily toolbox safety meetings
  • Present a professional image of Convergint at all times in appearance and behaviour.
  • Communicate with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service
