Position Summary Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Building Services Supervisor is responsible for the efficient, safe, and effective operation of SBCHC facilities. This role oversees custodial, maintenance, and transportation staff, ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and support services meet regulatory, safety, and operational standards. The Supervisor plays a key role in supporting patient services by maintaining clean, functional, and compliant environments across the Health Center. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide daily supervision of custodial staff to ensure buildings and grounds are clean, attractive, and well maintained Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local ordinances, regulations, and safety standards Monitor and manage the Building Services ticket system; delegate service requests and follow up to confirm timely completion Supervise the SBCHC shuttle driver, including monitoring shuttle GPS systems and required vehicle maintenance Work collaboratively with Human Resources to address employee performance and conduct issues Assist with the coordination of trash removal and disposal of hazardous waste in a safe, orderly, and environmentally responsible manner Support facility renovations and remodeling efforts to minimize disruption to patient services and protect patient and employee safety Assist in ensuring facility compliance with emergency preparedness and safety codes Monitor SBCHC parking areas to ensure appropriate usage by patients, visitors, and staff Complete required administrative paperwork and documentation Assist with onboarding and training of new custodial staff Perform daily rounds of facilities to identify maintenance, cleanliness, or safety needs Other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum of 3–5 years of custodial or maintenance supervisory experience in a healthcare setting Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks based on organizational and operational needs Ability to supervise staff and manage day to day operations effectively Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a community health or ambulatory care setting Familiarity with work order or facilities ticketing systems Experience supervising union staff Knowledge of OSHA and healthcare compliance standards Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to lead and motivate staff in a team oriented environment Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality Ability to respond effectively to urgent and competing priorities Commitment to customer service for patients, staff, and visitors Demonstrated respect for cultural diversity in alignment with SBCHC values Physical Requirements Physical requirements are minimal OSHA Job Classification: Category III Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation Benefits & Perks SBCHC offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well being and work life balance, which may include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off, holidays, and sick time Retirement plan options Professional development and training opportunities Employee assistance programs Other benefits in accordance with employment status and union agreements Compliance & Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and reference checks Proof of COVID-19 and other required vaccinations may be required in accordance with SBCHC policy and applicable laws Selected candidates must meet all licensing, certification, or credentialing requirements applicable to the role Equal Opportunity Statement South Boston Community Health Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
