JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to join our Property team based at Doxford Park, Sunderland. Responsible for providing professional advice on property and construction, including the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings. This role involves working on a variety of projects, ensuring that buildings meet the necessary regulations and standards.
You will work collaboratively with procurement to ensure that tender processes are successfully completed to enable the delivery of Projects. Lead on the preparation of all pre-contract works required for handover to the Delivery Team and manage the delivery of small-scale projects.
You’ll be joining our dynamic Property team, reporting directly to the Lead Building Surveyor, within out Asset Services Team. The team provide technical surveying, reports, schedules of work and act as the client representative on specialist projects.

To support collaboration and innovation, you’ll be required to work from the office for part of the working week and be flexible to attend on-site meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

Lead as Project Manager and Client Representative under CDM 2015, ensuring compliance with Planning, Building Control, and Health & Safety legislation.
Prepare and submit statutory applications and notifications as required.
Develop detailed pre-contract documentation including specifications and technical drawings; support tender preparation and evaluation with Procurement.
Conduct defect diagnosis surveys and produce specifications and designs for remedial works.
Collaborate with Asset Management and Property teams to deliver a customer-focused service.
Produce Asbestos Strategies to support investment projects.
Support Project Managers with technical input to enable successful scheme delivery.
Respond promptly to Principal Contractor information requests.
Coordinate and contribute to specifications, drawings, and contract documents for major refurbishment projects.
Assist in developing detailed specifications aligned with Gentoo Standards, considering compliance, maintenance, and innovation.
Support financial planning, budget setting, and optimisation.
Validate investment needs in line with the Asset Management Strategy.
Provide technical advice across the Group on Building Surveying matters.
Ensure accurate asset data by supporting completion recording processes.
