Description:
Overview:
Element is looking for a highly motivated Building Systems Technologist to conduct various building envelope performance evaluations to well defined standards and/or operating procedures. This position involves fenestration thermal modeling, physical testing, client interaction and technical report writing.
Responsibilities:
- Perform computerized thermal modeling of window and door systems, internal training to be provided.
- Perform physical test of full-scale building envelope assemblies and components in accordance with recognized standards.
- Involvement in sample preparation, test setup, data collection & analysis.
- Understanding of relevant standards and specifications.
- Write technical reports complete with full specimen description, relevant reference standard/specification, and test results
- Participate in client correspondence and project coordination
- Purchase materials and maintain equipment records.
- Maintain equipment calibrations.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Completion of a College or University program in Engineering or Technology
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency: MS Office, AutoCAD, Visual Basic, C++
- NFRC thermal simulation experience is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage projects from initial set up, test execution to technical report writing.
- Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required.
- Ability set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under minimal supervision and technical input of a Senior/Principal Test Technician
- Conduct safe material handling per Element guidelines.
- Experience with common construction power tools.
