Opportunity At Olympic Dam, Bulk Material Handling Operators (also known as slag haulers) play a vital role in supporting the smelter’s operations. This hands-on role involves operating specialised vehicles to safely transport molten slag from electric furnaces to designated cooling and storage areas. You’ll be working with heavy equipment in high-risk environments, managing the movement of bulk materials like slag, sand, and anodes, all while upholding the highest safety standards. This is a permanent role with a standard 2-weeks-on, 1-week-off roster. Each swing typically includes one week of day shifts followed by one week of night shifts, though some flexibility may be required to meet operational needs. Ventia provides return flights from Adelaide to Roxby Downs, along with accommodation while on site. You’ll receive six hours of paid time on travel days and work 12-hour shifts while on site. About the Role Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dump trucks, haulers, loaders, mobile crushers, MTS, and integrated tool carriers. Perform construction and maintenance tasks: loading, unloading, relocating, and distributing materials. Deliver services across Slag Pot Management, Electric Furnace Slag, Sand Processing, Anode Haulage, and more. Adhere to all safety procedures and site regulations. About You We’re looking for multi-skilled operators with: Demonstrated experience in civil construction. (highly regarded) HR (or higher) Driver’s Licence. Tickets for Front End Loader, Excavator, Integrated Tool Carrier. White Card. Strong communication skills and a proactive, safety-conscious attitude.
