Job Description Bulk Oil & Formulation Superintendent Position Summary The Bulk Oil & Formulation Superintendent is responsible for leading all bulk oil handling, storage, and blending/formulation operations within the facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant movement of raw and finished products while overseeing formulation accuracy, product quality, and team performance. The position bridges operations, quality, and logistics to deliver consistent, high-quality products to customers. Key Responsibilities Operations & Bulk Oil Management Oversee bulk oil receiving, storage, transfers, and shipping (rail, truck, tank farm) Ensure proper tank management, inventory control, and reconciliation accuracy Coordinate logistics and material flow to meet production and customer demand Partner with maintenance to ensure reliability of pumps, piping, valves, and blending systems Formulation & Product Quality Lead formulation and blending activities to meet product specifications Ensure all batches meet quality, regulatory, and customer requirements Review and approve formulas, batch sheets, and production records Troubleshoot formulation, blending, or process deviations and implement corrective actions Collaborate with QA/QC on testing, validation, and continuous improvement Leadership & Team Development Supervise and develop operators, formulators, and lead personnel Drive accountability, engagement, and skill development across the team Establish clear expectations, standard work, and performance metrics Support a positive labor environment (if unionized), ensuring consistent application of policies Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and food safety standards (OSHA, EPA, FDA, GMP) Lead incident investigations and enforce proper reporting protocols Maintain and improve SOPs, work instructions, and process controls Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and uptime Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and R&D to align on priorities Support new product introductions and process changes Communicate effectively across shifts and departments to ensure alignment PAY RANGE- $82,250-$102,813 Benefits- Medical-Dental-401k Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5–10 years of manufacturing experience in bulk liquids, food processing, or chemical operations 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience Experience with formulation/blending processes and bulk material handling systems Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory requirements Experience working in ERP or inventory management systems Key Competencies Leadership and team development Strong operational and process mindset Problem-solving and decision-making Attention to detail (formulation accuracy and compliance) Cross-functional collaboration and communication Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Safety performance (TRIR, near-miss reporting) Product quality and specification compliance Throughput, efficiency, and downtime reduction Inventory accuracy and loss control On-time production and shipment performance Employee engagement and retention Additional Information Physical: Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps, and ladders on occasions, sitting at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere ( 35-45 degrees) , sometimes in engine room ( + 95 degrees in hot months). Ability to work extended shifts (8–12 hours), including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Sensory: Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task. Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing demands. Requires strong organizational skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
