About the Role
We are seeking a patient and supportive tutor who can speak Burmese and assist an adult Burmese-speaking client in learning very basic English. The focus will be on practical, everyday English for daily life — such as greetings, shopping, travel, and simple conversations.
This is a part-time, casual role with one-on-one sessions, tailored to the learner’s pace and comfort level.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on beginner English for adults
• Use Burmese and English to explain concepts clearly and effectively
• Adapt lessons to the learner’s goals and everyday situations
• Provide encouragement and support to build confidence in communication
• Develop simple, practical resources (e.g. role plays, real-life examples, basic worksheets)

Requirements

• Fluency in Burmese and English is essential
• Experience teaching/tutoring English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults is highly regarded
• Ability to teach patiently at a beginner level, with a focus on practical use
• Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and respect when teaching adult learners
• Must hold (or be willing to obtain) a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent clearance (standard compliance requirement, even for adult tutoring)
