BUS DRIVER

Aspengrove is an independent International Baccalaureate Continuum school in Nanaimo, with approximately 330 students ranging from JK3 up to Grade 12. We strive to provide an exceptional educational experience and a comprehensive co-curricular program in a caring and collaborative environment. Our staff and faculty are integral to creating an inspiring, inclusive, and positive learning environment and workplace at Aspengrove School.
Aspengrove is hiring a school bus driver to safely transport our students to and from school and activities. This is a part-time, hourly position, approximately 20 hours per week during the school terms. The academic year starts in early September and ends on June 30 of the following year. The school is running summer programs and additional transportation hours might be available during the summer in July and August.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • possession of a valid Class 2 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Criminal Record Check clearance (Ministry of Justice BC), upon hire and ongoing;
  • Minimum 2 year’s safe driving experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive students to and from school, following a prescribed route
  • Complete pre & post trip bus inspections
  • Promote a safe environment for riders
  • Comply with all statutory regulations to operate vehicles in a safe manner
  • Collaborate with the transport manager and school staff
  • Possess a positive attitude and work in a team environment
  • Resolve parent/student route and behavior concerns in a positive, respectful and proactive manner
  • Ability to complete general vehicle maintenance, refueling and cleaning of school buses
