Description TITLE: Bus Driver DEPARTMENT: Individual Club REPORTS: Club Director FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Primary Function: Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, the Bus Driver is responsible for the operation of vans and small and large buses, in transporting children from school to the Clubs, and driving on designated field trips. Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities): Transporting students from schools to designated clubs. Transporting students on designated field trips. Follow a pre-planned route according to a definite time schedule. Drive the bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations and bus operating procedures. Assume responsibility for the safety of children in loading, unloading, and transporting them from school to club. Instruct children on safety precautions and practices. Maintains proper paperwork for attendance of children. Maintains discipline; reports of unruly behavior to Club Director. Inspects and sweeps bus on a daily basis. Reports delays and accidents. Reports defects or problems with vehicles to the Transportation Manager and maintenance. Assures bus meets regular maintenance schedule. Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager. Supervision: Does not supervise any employees. Key Result Area: Consistently on time with student pickups. Maintains a safe driving record. Requirements Job Specifications: High School Graduate or equivalent. Possession of a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class B or higher with “P” endorsement. Completion of a First Aid Course. Completion of a performance test in bus operations. Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations Able to take precautions to avoid accidents. Operate a bus in a safe and economical manner. Able to understand and carry out instructions. Must be able to perform work requiring good physical condition. Able to relate to children, parents and Boys & Girls Club personnel. Must be able to pass D.O.T. physical Working Conditions: Must be able to handle stress while dealing with passengers and traffic. Must be able to handle the responsibility for the safety of passengers. All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening. No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement
