The driver upholds the school's mission by maintaining a professional, Christ-centered demeanor and providing reliable transportation services. Qualifications: Must be a committed Christian and demonstrate a Christ-centered lifestyle. Member of a local church in good standing. High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid Class B Oklahoma Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement. Safe driving record with knowledge of Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Code as it applies to passenger transport. Knowledge of safe driving practices and basic first aid procedures. Previous experience working with children is preferred. Ability to exercise sound judgment, patience, and flexibility in handling student interactions. Professional and courteous demeanor. Essential Functions: Safe Transportation: Operate a school bus or other transportation vehicle along designated routes and schedules. Ensure the safe pick-up and drop-off of students at designated locations. Transport students, teachers, and staff to field trips, school events, and other locations as assigned. Student Safety & Conduct: Maintain order and proper discipline among student passengers in accordance with school policies. Conduct regular safety and evacuation drills as required by law. Enforce bus safety regulations and procedures. Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections: Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety and operational inspections of the vehicle. Report necessary mechanical repairs or safety concerns to the administration. Ensure the vehicle is fueled, properly maintained, and kept in a clean and safe condition. Communication & Compliance: Follow all school transportation policies and state regulations for school bus operations. Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents when necessary. Complete required reports, logs, and documentation related to transportation operations. Physical and Safety Requirements: This is a safety-sensitive position; employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing. Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to assist students in emergency situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs if necessary. Visual and auditory acuity to operate a vehicle safely and respond to potential hazards. Ability to enter and exit the bus multiple times throughout the day. Additional Expectations: Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Be flexible in accommodating transportation needs, including special events and field trips. Support and uphold the school’s Christian mission through professional conduct and personal character. Attend school meetings or training as required.
