Benefits: Medical, Vision and Dental Insurance Generous PTO 401k Disability Tuition Reimbursement Employee Assistance Program Job purpose: Act as Transportation Driver for Kennedy Collective para-transit system which may include but is not limited to, providing scheduled van services to adults with disabilities, in a variety of road and weather conditions, communicating with clarity and professionalism to all riders, parents, and staff, assisting passengers on and off the van as needed. Competencies: (6) Ethics/Integrity: 25% Internal Controls: 15% Quality: 15% Dependability: 15% Sense of Urgency: 15% Results Driven: 15% Duties and Responsibilities: Receive direct supervision from Transportation Manager. All the driving responsibility must be implemented without on-site or direct supervision. Operate a 7 to 14 passenger van including all lifts and all restraining devices. Assist individuals on and off the van including but not limited to opening doors, removing seat belts, supporting arm while ascending or descending, closing/lock van doors, operating lifts. Ensure compliance of all safety precautions including the daily use of seat belts and any other restraining devices. Submit all required paperwork including but not limited to daily run sheets, travel log sheets, maintenance repair sheets, incident reports and accident reports. Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver’s License and ability to possess a State of CT Public Service License. Work independently, utilize good judgment and possess a strong sense of initiative. Communicate clearly in oral and written form on a constant basis. Depending upon assignment, must be able to work in a variety of settings, weather conditions and locations. Must maintain PMT and CPR certification. Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Ability to transfer individuals requiring personal hygiene care. Physical Requirements: Have physical endurance to use physical crisis intervention techniques which may include restraining individuals. Provide physical intervention which may include lifting, mobility, first aid, and safety evacuations. Must be able to sit for a two-hour continuous period or more behind a steering wheel. Move and lift, push and pull weights up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. Monitor, hear and respond to information received over 2-way radio. Operate lift and assist individuals onto and off lift through bending, reaching, pulling and tying. Distribute and utilize equipment and transport individuals served which frequently includes lifting, pushing, stooping and crouching.
