Thermo King Eastern Canada is looking for a skilled and motivated Bus HVAC Technician to work on advanced public transit vehicles. This role is ideal for experienced HVAC professionals, transport refrigeration specialists, or mechanically inclined technicians seeking long-term career growth in the bus maintenance and transportation industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • College diploma/certificate in a mechanical or HVAC trade
  • Ozone Depletion Certificate (preferred, not mandatory)
  • Valid driver’s license and own tools with storage
  • 2–3 years’ experience in bus, truck, train HVAC, or transport refrigeration preferred
  • Strong mechanical background with proven troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
  • Capable of lifting 50–75 lbs. with or without assistance
  • Comfortable climbing ladders (up to 8 ft), kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/pulling
  • Able to work in varying conditions including noise, heat, cold, wet/slippery surfaces
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Bus HVAC Technician, you will be hands-on with the installation, commissioning, and servicing of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems on new buses at our St-Eustache facility. Working directly on the bus assembly line, you will connect and pressure test Freon lines, charge systems, perform diagnostics, and ensure all heating and cooling systems meet performance, safety, and passenger comfort standards. Your work will directly support reliable climate control for transportation fleets across the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, commission, and service HVAC systems for new buses at various assembly line stations
  • Connect, pressure test, and verify Freon refrigerant lines for leaks and performance
  • Charge HVAC systems and upload configuration files to onboard computers
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC components in bus and transport vehicles
  • Perform electronic and mechanical diagnostics using scanners, test equipment, and OEM software
  • Support bus maintenance teams in ensuring on-time delivery and meeting quality standards
  • Collaborate with operations staff, service writers, supervisors, and customers to achieve project goals
