REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications required:
This is an A Level equivalent qualification. To enter a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, you typically need a minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and Maths.

Required Skills:

  • Be organised and methodical, able to work under pressure with a common sense “can do” attitude.
  • A desire to pursue a career in Business Administration, Facility or Security Management.
  • Organised, able to plan and prioritise tasks with good communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently; effectively prioritise their tasks, remain pro-active and flexible.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data from disparate sources.
  • Good Interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate to fair and reasonable conclusions.
  • Discreet in the handling of personal or sensitive information.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain these over time.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) are looking to recruit a Business Administration Apprentice and give that individual a solid grounding in Office, Facility and Security Management at the start of their career.
The position will be within the existing Programme Support Team. The role is varied, and will give broad experience of the office environment including Office & Facilities Management, general administrative tasks and secretarial support. The work location will be based in the Gloucester / Cheltenham area.
Within this this role, candidates will support and engage different parts of the organisation, as well as interact with internal and external customers. Business Administrators focus on adding value to an organisation by supporting functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The apprentice can acquire a broader set of skills as a result of both flexibility and additional responsibilities.
They should demonstrate a positive attitude in executing responsibilities efficiently and with integrity. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and taking a proactive approach to skills development. The Business Administration Apprentice is also expected to demonstrate initiative, time / priority management, problem solving skills and decision-making, as well as the potential to manage others through mentoring or coaching.

This post entails the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks to include but not limited to: organising meetings, minute/action recording, photocopying, and material destruction.
  • Liaison with facilities suppliers to arrange site maintenance visits.
  • Coordinating and escorting site visits as appropriate.
  • Managing electronic and hard copy file systems relating to facilities and EESH requirements.
  • Data entry and report collation.
  • Communicating and providing information to supervisors and co-workers, to people outside of the Programme and representing the organisation to customers verbally (in person and by telephone) and in writing.
  • Occasional Front of House duties.
  • Provide cover as required and directed by the Office Manager or Programme Support Manager.
