BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR APPRENTICESHIP AT VTC INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

VTC is a unique and supportive independent school that caters to up to 24 young people aged 12–18 with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school’s students are either permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
At VTC, they create personalised learning pathways tailored to each student’s needs. The school offer a dynamic blend of academic support and vocational training (including engineering), complemented by work experience, community projects, and outdoor wellbeing activities—all delivered in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

APPRENTICESHIP OVERVIEW:

  • Salary: £7.55 an hour, Automatic salary increase after 1 year of apprenticeship for those who are 19+
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday 9 am till 3:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Duration: 16 months

    We are looking for a motivated and organised Business Administration Apprentice to provide a full reception, administrative, and personal assistant service. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an impactful educational setting while gaining valuable skills and qualifications in business administration.

DESIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good numeracy and literacy (ideally GCSE English and Maths or equivalent)
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, professional manner
  • Experience in customer service or administration (desirable)
  • Knowledge of school systems and safeguarding practices (beneficial but not essential)

WHAT TRAINING WILL THE APPRENTICE TAKE AND WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL THE APPRENTICE GET AT THE END?

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship standard qualification
Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
