Position Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Business Advisor is a detail-oriented and analytical individual, supporting clinical and non-clinical departments in optimizing financial performance and strategic decision making. The position acts as a key partner and advisor to departmental leaders. The role will be responsible for completing month-end entries, variance analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost effectiveness initiatives across a broad range of healthcare operations including patient care, administrative services and support programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries as required;
  • Analyze trends, identify variances, and provide actionable insights on operating results;
  • Provide support as requested for the annual external interim and year-end audit by completing requested materials and preparing assigned schedules;
  • Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and management;
  • Participate in specific projects related to implementation of new systems and processes and performance improvement strategies as required by Finance Management or the Senior Leadership Team;
  • Assist Sr. Business Advisors with Program requests as required.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or College diploma in finance/accounting;
  • Completion of or in the process of completion of a Canadian recognized accounting designation (CPA) (considered an asset);
  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience;
  • Strong analytical skills as demonstrated with previous job responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of CICA handbook and PSAB;
  • Experience in a healthcare setting with Level 1 MIS Guidelines certification is preferred;
  • Experience with Power BI, Budman, and SAP would be an asset;
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel software and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships;
  • Team player and able to work independently;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Able to handle complexity and multiple deadlines at one time;
  • Responsive to time-sensitive data requests and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines;
  • Problem-solving and issues resolution skills;
  • Ability and mindset to automate and improve processes using current and future IT solutions;
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
