BUSINESS ANALYST – INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT FOR CARVE-OUT PROJECTS

Department: IT Infrastructure and Transformation
Reports To: IT Project Manager / Program Lead
Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days in office per week)
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract

POSITION SUMMARY

A leading organization undergoing a major business transition is seeking a skilled Business Analyst to support infrastructure carve-out projects. This role will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) in IT infrastructure, focusing on Security, Mail, Active Directory (AD), ITSM, cloud-based environments, and other critical systems. The Business Analyst will play a key role in gathering requirements, producing technical documentation, mapping user journeys, and supporting the planning and execution of the carve-out strategy.

REQUIREMENTS GATHERING & ANALYSIS

  • Work with SMEs and stakeholders to identify and document technical and business requirements for infrastructure carve-out projects.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of existing systems, dependencies, and integration points.
  • Ensure all requirements align with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Define and document user journeys to ensure a seamless transition during the carve-out process.
  • Gather and document details of technical environments, including on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in IT infrastructure projects, especially carve-out or migration projects.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies (Mail systems, AD, security frameworks, ITSM, cloud environments).
  • Ability to create detailed technical specifications and documentation.
  • Familiarity with security principles, compliance, access controls, and data protection.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in mapping user journeys to optimize infrastructure transitions.
  • Ability to create architecture drawings and system diagrams to support technical planning.
  • Experience in gathering and documenting technical environments, including cloud-based infrastructures.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in infrastructure carve-out or separation projects.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience using Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools for technical diagrams.
  • Awareness of ITIL frameworks and best practices.
