The Business Analyst (BA) is a position designed to be responsible for providing functional and technical analysis and design in support of projects that may require business process clarification, system enhancements, and software integrations. This position requires competency in all areas of business process/system analysis, and is expected to provide functions including facilitation, needs assessment, requirements definition, technical specifications, business process mapping, and change management support. A business analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. The business analyst works closely with the functional team to understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.
Duties include:
- Supporting the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, including key domains such as Financial Systems, Human Resources, Payroll, and Maintenance.
- Leading and participating in mission-critical activities, including business process analysis, technical analysis, solution design, software modification, interface design, testing, and documentation.
- Ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems while providing configuration, support, and training for assigned ERP modules.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement and collaborating with stakeholders to develop improvements to ERP functionality, addressing system deficiencies, and aligning with institutional goals.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Exercises latitude to determine objectives:
- Leading and facilitating meetings with a variety of teams and individuals, ensuring stakeholder consensus and alignment with project goals.
- Collaborate with leadership, central offices, and departmental users to address operational challenges and provide actionable solutions.
- Liaising between the technical team and the functional area customers to ensure effective communication.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess needs, present findings, and develop comprehensive work plans.
- Collaborating with internal and external customers to:
- Elicit clear and concise user requirements and business needs
- Translate customer needs into business cases and requirements definitions
- Work with technical group on documented design specifications
- Provide training to customers on new functionality
- Support applications post-implementation
- Evaluate impact of Oracle quarterly updates
Independently analyzes and solves highly complex technical problems:
- Configure ERP modules to align with Federal guidelines and University fiscal/personnel policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve reported ERP issues in collaboration with the functional stakeholders and Department of Technology Solutions (DTS) technical team.
- Evaluate ERP functionality gaps, proposing and implementing creative solutions to meet University needs.
- Conduct in-depth research to identify opportunities for enhancing ERP functionality and improving University business processes.
- Draft detailed technical specifications for new functionalities, data conversions, and application interfaces.
- Prepare technical documentation for configurations, enhancements, and procedural changes, ensuring transparency and continuity.
- Develop Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) and Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher reports, leading needs analysis and design discussions with user groups.
Researches Emerging Technologies:
- Analyze ERP upgrade documentation to evaluate impacts on existing configurations and University processes.
- Design and execute testing strategies for software upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to University operations.
- Perform rigorous unit and integration testing to ensure configurations and enhancements meet University standards.
- Design strategic implementation plans for new ERP functionalities, modules, and system upgrades, including resource allocation and rollout strategies.
- Create user-focused materials for the ERP Help Website, facilitating user access to key resources and updates.
- Assist the Change Management team by contributing technical expertise to training materials and curricula.
- Lead “train-the-trainer” sessions and conduct end-user training for central office and departmental staff.
- Represent the University in discussions with external vendors to develop tailored software solutions.
Identifies and initiates continues process improvement opportunities:
- Identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement and collaborating with stakeholders.
- to develop improvements to ERP functionality, addressing system deficiencies, and aligning with institutional goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of related experience in systems analysis, support and troubleshooting of computing applications and systems, or cloud-based technology ,Oracle Fusion Cloud configuration experience, experience with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), and/or Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM), experience as an Oracle OTBI or BI Publisher report developer or MS Power BI developer.
