Description
Description Business Analysts (BAs) at Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company (MFM) serve as strategic partners in delivering new insurance products, enhanced system functionality, and regulatory compliance initiatives. With one foot in Information Technology and the other in the business community, Business Analysts collaborate across departments to translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements. Once solutions are delivered by internal or external development teams, BAs serve as the first quality checkpoint—conducting rigorous testing to ensure implementations meet specifications and achieve intended business outcomes. Business Analysts also utilize Jira to manage project workflows, document resolutions, and maintain visibility into Research & Development deliverables. Their attention to detail, system expertise, and cross-functional communication ensure efficient execution and regulatory readiness. This is a fully remote, work-from-home position. Our Culture & Values At Midwest Family Mutual, our work is guided by our FITTED core values. Business Analysts are expected to reflect these principles through both their technical contributions and the way they partner with others across the organization: Focus on Agents & Customers by delivering solutions that support Independent Agents, policyholders, and strong service outcomes. Innovate by contributing ideas that improve productivity, enhance customer experience, and evolve technology as the market changes. Think Like an Owner by taking accountability for outcomes and prioritizing work that benefits the company and its employees. Treat Each Other Like Family through respectful collaboration, trust, and strong relationships across teams. Enjoy What You Do by bringing curiosity, engagement, and satisfaction to meaningful work and new challenges. Validate that completed work meets documented requirements and supports intended business outcomes. Identify defects, document findings, and coordinate resolution with development teams. System Configuration & Subject Matter Expertise Act as a subject matter expert in rules-based forms configuration within the policy administration platform. Configure complex state-specific form logic, UI display behaviors, and attachment structures. Provide detailed documentation to support rate and rule changes aligned with filed requirements. Compliance & Regulatory Support Conduct compliance research, including market conduct standards, to support regulatory readiness within system implementations. Provide support for regulatory filings and documentation during high-volume periods Training & User Support Prepare and deliver training webinars and documentation for end-user groups. Support Business Support Analysts in resolving escalated Help Desk inquiries as needed. Project Tracking & Documentation Maintain accurate project documentation, testing status, and task updates within Jira. Ensure transparency and accountability across Research & Development initiatives. Requirements Required Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (5 years required without a degree). Knowledge of property and casualty insurance policy and/or claims processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including logical and process-based reasoning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred / Beneficial Experience writing SQL queries for reporting, validation, or testing support. Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and data workflows. Experience with Jira or similar project tracking tools. CPCU designation or progress toward insurance certifications.
