Description

The Ontario Arts Council is a publicly funded agency of Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. We support professional artists and arts organizations to create and produce art for the benefit of all Ontarians, through grants, services, outreach and partnerships.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, business administration, or computer science, or a combination of other equivalent relevant education/training and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience using project management software or tools.
  • Project Management certification or in the process of earning one, is an asset.
  • Extensive experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as PowerBI and Excel.
  • Expert level competence with personal computers and personal computer software, specifically MS Office 365, Office’s SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML and CSS, a definite asset.
  • Considerable experience working with database applications, enterprise resource planning systems or customer relationship management systems.
  • Experience configuring user interfaces, improving functionality and usability using built-in tools in Software as a Service solution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear, concise, effective and professional communication skills.
  • Significant accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Works efficiently and effectively under pressure, flexible/adaptable to changing circumstances, and prioritizes and balances multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrable success in applying sound judgement, initiative and thinking strategically.
  • Excellent follow-through with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly.
  • Interact positively and supportively with diverse populations internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of or experience working in the not-for-profit, arts and/or in a granting context is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver new data products through adopting new technology solutions that leverage OAC’s data and information processes, and support OAC’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide business analysis for significant program redesign, managing various stakeholders’ input, program updates, change management to establish strong business processes and improve research and data collection methods.
  • Responsible for consultation and business requirements gathering on assigned projects, ensuring they are in line with the strategic plan, corporate and departmental priorities and direction.
  • Provide analysis on the oversight, maintenance and improvements of OAC’s data collection systems to meet OAC’s requirements.
  • Extract relevant data from OAC data warehouses, corporate information systems and other data sources in support of business decisions, planning for projects, timelines, or changes, and in response to research and data queries.
  • Lead research, business process, and data strategy projects, as assigned by the manager.
  • Provide documentation support for research and data requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, recommendations of new functionality, and product testing.
  • Monitor progress of project timelines and deliverables, following up on identified action items, and resolving or escalating issues, as applicable.Develop and present materials to support data-based decision-making, agency reporting and business compliance monitoring on policies, processes, and systems.
