POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State College of Medicine is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Business Analyst to support 13 biomedical core facilities and the Animal Resource Program. This role is pivotal in driving data-informed decision-making, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of core services. The successful candidate will work closely with core directors, lab managers, faculty, administrators, and institutional leadership to deliver actionable insights through data analysis, financial modeling, and process improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities are listed below but are not limited to those described, and may evolve based on institutional priorities and operational needs. Collect, analyze, and interpret complex operational and financial data across core facilities. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate service effectiveness and efficiency. Prepare annual budgets and service pricing structures in compliance with federal and institutional guidelines. Develop long-range financial models and forecasts. Monitor financial performance and return on investment (ROI), recommending strategies for improvement. Create and present clear, data-driven reports and visualizations to stakeholders at all levels. Identify inefficiencies and implement data-driven solutions to enhance workflows and service delivery. Translate data insights into strategic recommendations and process improvements. Qualifications Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred. Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or Data Analytics is also preferred. Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience is required; 4–7 years is preferred, especially in a research, academic, or healthcare environment. Skills: Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
