ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently looking for one (1) Business Analyst for a permantent full time role.
The Business Analyst is a key liaison between SkilledTradesBC’s business teams, IT staff and external technology partners. The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with colleagues to understand the business processes, identify opportunities for improvement within SkilledTradesBC and guide the design and delivery of technology solutions that deliver real value to our staff and customers. The Business Analyst will also be responsible for facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, testing solutions and training users to ensure changes are well planned, end to end tested and successfully adopted.
The Business Analyst applies critical thinking, data-driven insights, and industry best practices to recommend effective solutions. They play a key role in aligning technological initiatives with organizational goals, ensuring measurable business outcomes. Success in the role depends on strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex needs into actionable plans. The Business Analyst role is also focused on maintaining efficient business processes, managing and improving IT systems based on industry’s best practices and enforcing needed controls to ensure secure and stable operations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree or education in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems, Management Information System (MIS), Business Administration with IT and/or equivalent; combination of education and experience is required to perform all aspects of this role successfully
  • CBAP Certification is preferred for this role
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business and process analysis and improvement
  • Experience in creating requirements management and process redesign for digital transformation
  • Experience in successful change management project delivery
  • Agile/Hybrid project methodology experience is required
  • Microsoft enthusiast and working knowledge of Microsoft365 (Office365, SharePoint online, Teams, MS Visio etc.)
  • Experience working in the public sector or crown corporations would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience writing and understanding SQL queries is preferred
  • Technical savvy to understand System integrations, API’s and Integration hub is desirable
  • Knowledge and Experience of CRM or ERP systems is preferred. (e.g. D365)
  • Experience of process flows systems such as Posse is desirable
  • Ability to create, understand and suggest improvements to Solution/Technical design documents
  • Articulate communicator with excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • A team player, strong collaborator within a dynamic team and Agile project environment

Responsibilities
  • Identify operational objectives by analyzing business processes, collecting relevant data, and assessing output requirements
  • Design process flows and system components by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, and writing specifications
  • Coordinate, participate and lead collaborative workshops and discussions with business units to gather and document detailed business requirements
  • Support and define requirements by identifying milestones, phases, and elements, including managing resources
  • Partner with developers and UI/UX specialists to design and deliver effective solutions that meet business needs
  • Work closely with Application Owners to shape product roadmaps, support delivery of user stories and assigned tasks, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Provide analytical support throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, helping Application Owners translate business needs into effective, actionable solutions.
  • Improve systems by studying current practices and recommend improvement approaches to stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and business functions to support analysis, implementation, and ongoing operations.
  • Recommend and closely work with Application owners and IT leadership to implement access control measures by identifying security gaps in IT systems and documenting enhanced procedures to improve operational integrity
  • Maintain system protocols by documenting and regularly updating access control procedures and operational workflows
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems; publishing progress reports and recommending actions
  • Create high quality training materials and train users as needed for new applications, project deliverables and system functions
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Create comprehensive test plans as needed for end user testing (UAT) focused on business scenarios, clear outcomes and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with external vendors to gather and communicate project requirements, including solution design, system support, ongoing maintenance, and application upgrades
  • Ensure that a configured solution meets business requirements by validating its functionality against documented specifications
  • Support change management initiatives by coordinating stakeholder engagement, promoting feature adoption, and ensuring smooth transition to operations
  • Provide ongoing support for bug fixes and minor enhancements to ensure system stability and usability
  • Triage issues to developers and coordinate with business units to ensure timely resolution and clear communication for various tasks
  • Support IT leadership as tasked by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends across SkilledTradesBC’s IT systems to support continuous improvement efforts
