Description
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.  At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team. Reporting to Manager, Operational Technology, we are looking to hire a Business Analyst – Technology & Data, who will play a key role in ensuring that technology initiatives are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with business needs. Your work will bridge business objectives with technical solutions and support the successful implementation of technology projects across the operation. What will I be doing? * Translate business goals, processes, and pain points into clear system requirements, scope definitions, workflows, SOPs, and technical specifications while identifying opportunities to automate or improve workflows.  * Lead and support testing by developing test plans and scenarios, guiding users through execution, monitoring results, and recommending solutions for identified issues.  * Convert business requirements into technical requirements and provide ongoing support and guidance during technology projects, including planning, analysis, tracking, transition activities, and issue resolution.  * Facilitate communication between business teams, IT, and vendors; support business cases, risk identification, prioritization, change management activities, training material development, and creation of project status reports or dashboards.  * Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring decisions align with business needs and customer-focused outcomes.  * Promote operational excellence by monitoring documentation standards, identifying process or technology optimization opportunities, supporting training and readiness for new systems, and providing flexibility for extended hours during major technology changes. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need? * Post‑secondary education in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement) or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with proven Business Analyst experience—ideally in transportation, technology, or the public sector.  * Experience supporting technology projects, system implementations, process automation, and data‑driven decision-making, along with strong knowledge of technology concepts, system development practices, and business process design.  * Proficiency with analytical and quantitative tools (data modelling, workflow mapping, process analysis) and with MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project.  * Experience participating in testing cycles, including planning, execution, and reporting.  * Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to turn complex business needs into clear requirements.  * Highly organized, collaborative team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments; PMP, CBAP, or similar certifications are considered assets. Don’t Meet Every Requirement?  If you’re excited about working with Metrolinx but your past experience doesn’t quite align with every qualification of this posting, we encourage you to apply. You just might be the right candidate for this or other roles. We are always looking for great talent to join our team. We invite all interested individuals to apply and encourage applications from members of equity-deserving communities, including those who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, women, people with disabilities, and people with diverse gender identities, expressions and sexual orientations. Accommodation: We value the unique skills and experiences each person brings to Metrolinx and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment. We are committed to the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act so if you require accommodation during the hiring process, please let our Recruitment team know by contacting us at: 416-202-5601 or email hr.recruitment@metrolinx.com [hr.recruitment@metrolinx.com]. As we send time sensitive correspondence, we recommend that you check your email regularly. If no response is received, we will assume you are no longer interested in pursuing the opportunity. Please be advised that a Criminal Record Check may be required of the successful candidate.  For Internal applicants, with the recent implementation of the Internal Mobility Policy, the internal recruitment process has changed for non-union roles. Candidates must be in their current role for 12 months prior to applying for another role and each applicant must be in good standing (not participating in a Performance Improvement Plan).
