Description
Job Description Summary We are seeking a technical, data-oriented Business Analyst to help define, shape, and deliver enterprise analytics solutions across operations, actuarial, investments, and finance. This role goes beyond documentation and coordination, you will own problem definition, translate ambiguous business needs into data requirements, and actively validate insights using SQL and data analysis. This role will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring analytics solutions are well-defined, technically feasible, and deliver measurable business value. Job Description Key Responsibilities Requirements & Problem Discovery Lead deep discovery sessions with business stakeholders to understand goals, decisions, metrics, and pain points. Elicit, define, and prioritize business questions, KPIs, and analytical requirements, translating them into clear, testable data specifications. Challenge assumptions and help stakeholders refine requests into actionable analytics use cases. Analytics & Data Analysis Use SQL to explore source data, validate requirements, assess data quality, and perform ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making. Partner with stakeholders to validate metrics, definitions, and results using real data—not just mockups. Support root-cause analysis, trend analysis, and insight generation as part of analytics initiatives. Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements for data engineers and BI developers. Work closely with data engineering, BI, and platform teams throughout design, build, testing, and release. Own requirements traceability from intake through UAT and production validation. Lead UAT planning and execution, ensuring solutions meet business intent and data accuracy standards. Product & Continuous Improvement Act as a steward of analytics products, supporting enhancements, backlog prioritization, and ongoing optimization. Identify opportunities to improve data usability, metric consistency, and self-service analytics adoption. Contribute to standardization of metrics, definitions, and reporting best practices across the enterprise. Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Analytics Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role within data-driven environments. Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience querying relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle). Proven experience performing data analysis to validate requirements and insights, not just documenting them. Experience working with visualization tools such as Power BI (or similar). Strong understanding of data concepts including data models, ETL/ELT processes, metrics, and reporting layers. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces.
