The University of Manchester are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Business Case & Benefits Manager to join their Future Foundations Programme Team.
The Business Case & Benefits Realisation Manager will be responsible for maintaining the Future Foundations Programme’s Business Case as a living, evolving document, ensuring it accurately reflects developments across the programme lifecycle. This is role is about owning the business case and holding the programme accountable for delivering tangible, strategic outcomes.
This critical role is responsible for ensuring the University achieves the intended benefits from its ERP investment. You will drive the planning, tracking, and realisation of value, working closely with programme leadership, stakeholders, and suppliers. Collaborating across key functions including Finance, Strategy, Change, and Operations. You will help keep the programme aligned with its strategic goals, adapt to evolving needs, and deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes in a complex environment.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of benefits management methodologies, covering the full lifecycle from identification through to realisation. Able to apply best practice approaches to maximise value and ensure benefits are clearly aligned to strategic goals.
  • Experienced in developing complex business cases for large transformation or ERP programmes, focusing on financial modelling, risk analysis, and benefits tracking.
  • Experience of working in a large-scale, multi-stakeholder environment, ideally within higher education, public sector, or complex private organisations.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise a variety of work activities in a busy environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • The ability to work confidently and assertively with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and programme and project managers. Using coaching, negotiating, communication and influencing skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to executive stakeholders and write compelling documents for decision-making.
  • Expertise in problem-solving and making recommendations for decision-makers, engaging with relevant stakeholders, and using judgement when information is incomplete.
