REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Transportation Planning, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business operations, program management, finance, or strategic planning.
  • Minium of 3 years experience in business case development, transportation infrastructure, or technical writing.
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s transportation policies and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis tools is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and planning skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety practices.

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Business Case Specialist develops and supports comprehensive business cases that advance Ontario Northland’s strategic goals and operational improvements. This role collaborates with internal leaders and external stakeholders to conduct data-driven analysis, align initiatives with corporate objectives, and measure departmental performance

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop structured business cases including cost-benefit analysis, financial projections, risk assessments, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure all business cases are data-driven, well-documented, and aligned with corporate priorities and industry standards.
  • Conduct research on market trends, competitive landscape, and internal performance metrics to support recommendations.
  • Monitor business case progress through approval and implementation stages.
  • Provide ongoing support to business units during continuous improvement efforts and refine the business case process using stakeholder feedback and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate, consistent, and traceable documentation for all business cases.
  • Perform compliance checks to ensure adherence to internal policies and governance frameworks.
  • Deliver training and guidance to business units on effective business case development.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices to strengthen organizational capability in business case development.
