JOB SUMMARY

This role sits within the Ways of Working team, one of the six strands within the Workplace Transformation Programme, which has responsibility for building people’s understanding of, and commitment to new / changed workspaces ensuring that people know how to make best use of these workspaces. This is an exciting time to join as you’ll play an integral role in leading, shaping and delivering cross-cutting departmental business change activities, enabling people to adopt and embed new ways of working.
We are looking for an experienced Business Change Lead with a successful track record of leading and driving change within a complex organisation and excellent knowledge of applying full end-to-end business change activities. The successful candidate will be a strong, inspiring leader who is able to collaborate and influence key stakeholders and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business Change lead proactively prepares the business for the impact of the changes being delivered by projects within the programme. Providing a bridge between the project and the business users to ensure that activities are planned and completed to enable the business to implement the agreed change and realise the business benefits.
As a Business Change Lead within the Ways of Working team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering business change activity for a range of sites impacted by the Workplace Transformation Programme. Working in partnership with the other Programme strands and with stakeholders across the department, you will be using site-specific insights and delivery milestones to develop and deliver end-to-end business change for each site, supporting people through site moves and the adoption of new ways of working.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Develop and maintain tailored, and evidence based, business change plans for each site for which you have responsibility, ensuring that these are embedded in, and aligned to, the overall project plan.
  • Provide visible and effective leadership, leading and overseeing the quality and consistency of change activities, working with the project manager to deliver the business case benefits and outcomes.
  • Lead the creation of the required Business Change products for each project within the programme. Lead on engagement with key contacts, ensuring products are used appropriately by the Project Manager and the business. Deliver co-ordinated business change activities, working closely with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and adapt to changes in delivery timescales.
  • Be the escalation point for issues, unblocking issues and helping to overcome barriers.
  • Provide direction and guidance to the team, building capability by coaching and motivating the team to achieve high performance.
  • Develop strategic oversight of change activities across the team, identifying and assessing the scope and scale of change to determine the best approach and prioritising resource where needed.
  • Foster strong and effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the Workplace Transformation Programme and wider DWP business.
  • Influence key stakeholders to buy-in and actively advocate for the change across their business areas.
  • Develop Business Change messaging, working closely with Communications professionals and aligning with overarching programme communications strategies. Provide content for communications relating to Business Change across projects.
  • Work in partnership with the Benefits Manager and stakeholders to plan benefits realisation as part of all Business Change activities. Understand the effect and impact of the change on the business, ensuring effective mitigations are in place.
  • Assess the business area’s confidence and preparedness to Go-Live and develop interventions to support increased confidence and readiness where appropriate. Report on the tracking of these to ‘approve/refuse’ go-live to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure adoption and implementation of new capabilities by the business.
