Description
As a member of the interprofessional team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative & business support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. The Business Clerk is responsible for referral processing, centralized booking of appointments, and coordinating patients as they arrive for their appointments. The Business clerk functions according to the job description for business clerks and is directly accountable to the Clinical Manager of MSK CIAC. 1. Graduate of Community College Secretarial/Medical Office Administration program or 2 to 3 years of recent relevant medical office experience 2. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 3. Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding and typing skills (minimum 40 wpm) 4. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Meditech Patient Registration and Community Wide Scheduling 5. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using computers, MS Windows, Outlook, Word 6. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents will be tested 7. Medical Terminology, computer and typing skills will be tested 8. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills 9. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly 10. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively 11. Understanding of privacy and confidentiality policies 12. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending 13. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment 14. Critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently 15. Minimum 1 year previous booking experience preferred 16. Meditech Magic and ITS experience preferred
