In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a robust Business Continuity Management System to support the organisation’s needs, ensuring HMLR is prepared for and can recover from business continuity related incidents and events.
Acting as the business continuity subject matter expert (SME), you will lead efforts to improve resilience and provide guidance, tools and SME advice to ensure preparedness for potential disruptions and recovery and be responsible for overseeing HMLR’s business continuity framework, ensuring it is adaptable, proportionate and aligned with organisational goals.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Business Continuity Advisor, you will build and nurture strong stakeholder relationships, develop and communicate policies and help to develop maturity in HMLR’s preparedness and response to business continuity incidents.
You will support First Line staff in identifying and managing incidents and agreeing suitable business continuity posture and response to senior boards and committees, providing assurance on the effectiveness and maturity of HMLR’s strategic Business Continuity Management Programme.
By utilising your expert advice and constructively challenging senior staff and leaders in the First Line, you will improve their understanding of business continuity risks in their area. You will be responsible for equipping them with the knowledge and skills to prepare for, and recover from, business continuity incidents effectively and assisting them in the event of a crisis, incident or disaster recovery when required.
You will advise on gap analysis and improvements in business and service continuity, disaster recovery and create resilience by designing, building and delivering a robust contingency operation against requirements, policies, frameworks and best practices. You will also create confidence through scenarios, playbooks, test plans, simulations and resource planning by developing and/or supporting test exercises across the organisation.
Furthermore, you will continuously develop and maintain an appropriate business continuity management framework and an Incident Management Log.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be an occasional need to be able to accommodate working outside normal flexible working hours if an incident occurs, to ensure staff are receiving the appropriate support at the appropriate time. Time off in lieu can be taken for such incidents. Occasional travel, including some overnight stays, will be required for meetings, projects or national work.
