Job Description What is the opportunity? To be accountable for the leadership of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) function within an RBC business line and/or region. You will ensure Business Lines meet the maximum level of preparedness, conforming to RBC policy, regulatory compliance imperatives and industry standards for Incident Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Disaster Recovery Planning and Operational Resilience. You will also act as a senior professional advisor to Group Heads and business line heads to this end, supporting the BCM Coordinators with the identification of critical processes and associated dependencies, as well as to facilitate creation of the high-level recovery strategies and tactical plans providing. You will need to provide platform support and co-ordination with disruptive events and Incident Management capability. In tandem with business unit Executive and Senior Management, you will ensure operational risks relating to Business Continuity is identified and mitigated as well as support the delivery of Operational Resilience framework. This role requires 4 days in the office. What will you do? Assess the adequacy of the analysis of alternative strategies and resource dependencies as a pre-requisite to the development of continuity plans and the allocation of resources for the purposes of BCM. Provide guidance in the creation of standardised plans, testing, incident management processes. Manage standardised and consistent strategic and tactical activities of the business/regional office BCM Advisors (s) including: - Business Impact Analysis (analysis of the time-dependent consequences of an outage of essential business processes). BCP Plan Development, Documentation and Implementation - identify areas of emerging risk - test, verify and perform gap closure on all assigned business functions/units. Creation of a BCP/Emergency Response Environment within Business Line(s) of responsibility. Review and identify any instances of undue risk-taking by business and functional executives in the identification of risks, the definition of risk tolerances, the selection of continuity tasks and strategies or the testing of continuity plans. Assist the BCM Advisors in testing of BCM capability across the platform and/or region as required, increasing cross-business line and regional readiness. Partner with Business Line Executives to create, coordinate and maintain a multi-discipline Incident Management Team and provide response capabilities for the Platform. Keep abreast of changes and new developments relating to RBC financial products, services, operational processes, information technologies and compliance imperatives – as they relate to continuity risk profiles and risk thresholds. Support the delivery of the Operational Resilience framework to the business. What do you need to succeed?
