RESULT AREAS OF THE DEPARTMENT

As a Business Controller, you will be part of the Finance team. The team is responsible for:

  • Accounting: Ensure accurate and timely accounting of Oikocredit’s assets, liabilities, and all financial transactions. Maintain a sound AO/IC framework to safeguard the integrity of financial processes, including payment systems, treasury operations, policies, procedures, and transfer pricing tools.
  • Financial and Business Control: Deliver high-quality short- and long-term financial planning. Prepare annual budgets, monitor expenditures, and conduct financial forecasting throughout the year. Ensure timely statutory, regional, and consolidated financial reporting in line with the agreed calendar. Submit accurate statutory reports to stakeholders (e.g., tax filings, CRS/FATCA filings, ISUP board, OISF board). Provide relevant financial and non-financial reports to the managing board to support decision-making.
  • Business Intelligence and Data Utilization: Provide the organization with business insights through research and analytics. Enhance performance by effectively utilizing internal and external data sources to support business processes.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting through automation and the use of available technology

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters’ degree in the field of economics, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field. Preferably combined with Controlling certification.
  • Understanding of business intelligence and data management tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Proven experience with product ownership in a data-driven environment.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive computer literacy especially with excel and power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Development and delivery of timely, accurate long- and short-term financial plans that align with Oikocredit’s strategic objectives.
  • Prepare the annual budget, ensure effective budget monitoring and forecasting throughout the year.
  • Monitor KPI’s and financial metrics, identifying trends and variances

Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of regional and consolidated financial reports in accordance with agreed calendars and applicable standards to relevant stakeholders (MB, SB, etc).

Data utilization and analytics:

  • Act as the Product Owner for the Data Warehouse Scrum/Delivery Team, ensuring data solutions align with strategic priorities and deliver business value
  • Work closely with IT, data analysts and risk officers to implement advanced analytical solutions that support strategic decision-making
  • Coordinate the Data Analytics & BI Community, ensuring a collaborative environment for all colleagues working with data analytics and business intelligence
  • Translate business needs into clear data product requirements. manage and prioritize the product backlog, and ensure effective delivery in close collaboration with BI Developers, Analysts, and Testers.

Process Improvement and Automation:

  • Drive continuous improvement in the quality, speed, and efficiency of financial reporting by leveraging automation and available technology. Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to implement tools and processes that enhance financial operations and decision-making.

Relationship management:

  • Manage relationship with external parties that deliver tools the business controllers will work with to be able to perform data analytics or support data-driven decision making.

Strategic Support:

  • Provide strategic financial insights and analysis to support decision-making at the senior leadership level. Contribute to the overall strategic direction of Oikocredit by aligning financial strategies with the organization’s social impact mission.
