Position: Business Data Analyst
Rate of Pay: $8,195.75 - $10,983.08 monthly ($98,349 - $131,797 annually). This position is non-exempt and therefore eligible for overtime.

The Business Data Analyst is responsible for designing data solutions, developing dashboards, performing complex analysis, and supporting modern cloud-based data systems. Puget Sound Fire Overview: Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority is an internationally accredited full-service, all risk fire and rescue department that provides services to the citizens of Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, SeaTac, Tukwila, and Fire Districts 37 & 43. Our workforce is comprised of approximately 450 employees.
Work Location: Your main office will be at the PSF Fire Admin building, located at 20811 84th Ave. S. in Kent, WA. Throughout the course of your work, you may report to various stations throughout our service area.
Typical Schedule: Day shift; 10hrs/day, four days/week, or 8hrs/day, five days/week. After a training period, a HYBRID remote schedule may be permitted, with a maximum of two (2) days per week remote, but you will be required to report to work in-office at our Kent, WA location for the remainder of your work week.
Union Membership: No. This is a non-represented civilian position.

SKILLS FOR THE POSITION MAY BE GAINED THROUGH EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, RELEVANT JOB EXPERIENCE OR A COMBINATION, SUCH AS:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or related field.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and/or business intelligence in a modern technical environment. Experience with cloud data platforms and dashboard development is strongly preferred.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Experience building dashboards in Domo or an equivalent modern BI tool.
  • Knowledge of public safety or municipal data environments.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Business Data Analyst is responsible for designing data solutions, developing dashboards, performing complex analysis, and supporting modern cloud-based data systems. The role supports organizational decision-making through collaborative analytics, data integration, and storytelling with data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop dashboards and reports using cloud-based tools to support data-driven decision-making across departments.
  • Support the design, testing, and maintenance of data pipelines and integrations, primarily leveraging Snowflake and other cloud analytics platforms.
  • Perform end-to-end data analysis, including collecting, cleansing, transforming, and interpreting data to deliver insights aligned with organizational needs.
  • Support and enhance data warehouse infrastructure.
  • Translate business requirements into effective data models, metrics, and reporting frameworks.
  • Integrate and automate data workflows using cloud-based APIs.
  • Implement version control practices to track changes in data models, dashboards, and analytics code.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify performance questions, define measurable indicators, and deliver recommendations grounded in statistical analysis.
  • Assist with foundational data governance efforts, including documentation, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Evaluate new data sources and recommend opportunities to optimize reporting and analysis across functions.
  • Respond to internal data requests with speed and accuracy while maintaining data integrity and clarity.
  • Coordinate with team members including to support a unified approach to data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
