Role Purpose The Business Development Advisor is a member of Growing Transformative Horticulture (GROWTH) project and child poverty program management team, is responsible for providing strategic guidance related to establishing private sector partnership, and market system development (MSD). The Advisor will lead the review of project sustainability and exit strategies, facilitating the project team, International Development Enterprises (iDE) team and stakeholders to design comprehensive transition plans that facilitate roles and ownership to local stakeholders, farmer producer groups and market actors. The Advisor will work closely with iDE to strengthen the capacity of key market actors including technical resource persons, farmers/producers, input suppliers, and other agri-entrepreneurs while developing support systems and practical guidelines to ensure the long-term sustainability of the specific value chain. The Advisor participates and contributes in the project design and proposal development, provide the project concept, tools, materials and technical guidance to staff, ensuring alignment with market-driven approaches and SCI Common Approach and quality delivery of interventions. The Advisor is expected to integrate child sensitive into value chain and/market system development approaches and models to maximize positive impact on child well-being while advancing business solutions and sustainable livelihoods in line with SCI Common Approach. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly, such as participating in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and carrying out responsibilities outlined in the ERT Operation Platform and/or assigned by the line manager. Qualifications Bachelor or Master Degree in agriculture in field of Agronomy, agricultural economics, business administration or any other relevant field. Essential Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the farmer producer groups/ agriculture cooperative strenthening is a plus and including agriculture, food security & livelihoods, value chain development, market system development, private sector development, agriculture and business development, especially on vegetable commodities. Experience in development programmes using market-based approaches, like the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) or value-chain development. Good understanding of sustainable agribusiness development approaches, policies, guidelines, systems in Cambodia, particularly market system development, and child sensitive livelihood approach. A good understanding of project cycle management approaches and tools including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, grant management and partners’ capacity building. Good planning and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Good knowledge of budgeting and financial management skills. Proven ability to motivate, provide technical support and guidance to a diverse team of staff and partners with minimum direct supervision. Sensitivity and adaptability towards culture, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and team building. Desirable Good communication and interpersonal skill with co-worker and surrounding environment, government counterparts, and CSOs. Experience in promoting children welling through child sensitive approaches. Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work under time pressure to meet deadlines. Ability and willingness to travel to all parts of the country especially target province, rural communities, costal and mountainous areas, and willingness to abide by SCI Child Protection Policy/Child Safeguarding and Code of Conduct.
