Create impact as a Business Development Manager - Commercial Mō te Tūranga | Your Role Are you passionate about building strong relationships and driving business growth? We’re currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team — a strategic, relationship-focused professional who can combine analytical insight with commercial acumen to deliver great outcomes for both IAG and our brokers. In this role, you’ll analyse broker portfolios by segmentation and develop tailored business plans to meet growth and profitability objectives. You’ll also contribute to the implementation of IAG NZ’s broader broker strategy through key projects and initiatives. With delegated underwriting authority, you’ll ensure a seamless, high-quality service for brokers, working closely with Underwriting Managers and the wider underwriting team to deliver strong commercial results. Your success will be measured by key metrics including broker growth and profitability, retention and renewal rates, new business strike rates, and sales pipeline management. Key Responsibilities • Develop and strengthen relationships with allocated brokers to identify and maximise growth opportunities. • Conduct broker portfolio analyses and create strategic business plans to meet segmentation, risk, and profitability objectives. • Manage underwriting of new and renewal business for allocated brokers. • Proactively seek new business opportunities, contributing to the strategic direction of broker portfolios. • Collaborate with the Regional Manager and Sales & Underwriting Manager to support the strategic direction of broker portfolios. • Monitor external and internal business environments to identify potential risks or opportunities, and recommend proactive strategies. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office, offering flexible work arrangements — with the option to work from home up to three days a week.
