We have an exciting, permanent opportunity for a Business Development Consultant (Retirement – New/New Business Development) to join our Business Development team based at any of our 11 UK offices (hybrid working) – with a preference to London or the South East ideally. This is an Associate level position with pathway to Principal and Partner. The Business Development Consultant will work in partnership with the Business Development and Retirement teams to deliver the growth objectives of the Retirement pillar. Our growth has been significant since our creation in 1989 and continues to accelerate now we are part of Howden Group. A snapshot of your day: Developing ongoing relationships and nurturing opportunities with Independent Trustees (leading to increased referrals of 10% year on year); Working with local teams on direct to market prospecting activity. Networking at key events – for example Pensions UK, other influential industry organisations and Independent Trustees own events; and on relevant online forums/social media e.g. . Prospecting activities: Working with the Head of Corporate Sole Trustee to deliver activity consistent with growth plan for this market segment (specific target revenue to be determined) Working with the team to maximise sales leads from events (BW generated events, Independent Trustee activity and external third-party events). Contributing to the strategic planning for key opportunities; and supporting business plan to exploit opportunities in new areas or market driven opportunities Coaching colleagues at the tender and pitch stages with a view to increasing our win ratios; Monitoring competitor activity, product development, etc. and providing feedback to the business; Capitalising on market opportunities – brought about through competitor changes. We would love to hear from you if you have: Experience in new business development/sales in a similar role Robust technical knowledge of pension scheme market, specifically Independent Trustees and introducers is preferred Ability to articulate trustee proposition clearly both verbally and in written submissions Ability to build the new business pipeline, delivering increased revenue in line with business plan targets Excellent stakeholder engagement experience to working with client facing colleagues to increase cross selling opportunities Relevant industry qualifications are desirable What's in it for you: Competitive discretionary annual bonus.
